Wall Art

We as a collective have been asked to brainstorm and collaborate on a final vinyl print to cover the walls of the second floor graphic design and games building.

As soon as we were given this project my mind started at full pelt. I was thinking how i could link the games and graphic design genres together, of course the first thing that came to mind was some sort of game theme where we as graphic students could create avatars or make the university floor look like our own game.

These are some of the walls we have to work with:

My first idea came in the form of Mario. I think the pixelated iconic style of this game can be adapted in many different ways to create our own style but still have our own spin on it.

I also thought we could have our own avatars of the students or tutors in a animated style:

After presenting my ideas to the class we all came to the conclusion that i was touching on a games idea more so than what we could do as designers.

I came across an inspirational quote – ‘CREATIVITY IS CONTAGIOUS’. I love this saying so much, i think it can really put a smile on someones face and inspire them at the same time. I also love it in the context with the saying ‘PASS IT ON’.

After brainstorming with Frank we thought of a virus theme. I love the graphic freedom we would have with this and how we could really have our own input

I love the use of injecting something bland with colour. Colour is something very important to us as graphic designers and the idea of linking the contagious creativity with viruses and then bcd to colour i think would be an incredible idea.

Ideas created on illustrator so far:
